Fay D. Flourite - Manga and AnimeName: Fay D. Flourite

Age: Unknown (although he is older than he looks)

Other Names: "The magician", "the mage", "Fay"

Romantic Interests: Chi

Way of Fighting: Fay uses all sorts of different variations of fighting. He knows a bit of martial arts, and uses anything that can come in handy, like a metal pole. One thing he does not use, however, is his magic, which is exceptionally strong.
Other Facts: Fay is a high-level magician, the "D" in his name meaning that he's good at magic and highly respected in his country, Celes. Fay pretends to be naive and happy-go-lucky, but he knows a lot more than people would expect him to. When the group (Sakura, Syaoran, Kurogane, Mokona, and himself) is stuck, he uses his magical ability (but not nesessarily his magic itself) to sense out charms and enchantments. He loves to tease Kurogane, making fun of him and calling him cutesy names like "Kuro-puu," "Kuro-pii," and "Kuro-wan-wan," usually making him draw his katana or try to murder him somehow. He also gets along with Mokona.
Fay went to the Dimensional Witch, Yuuko, because he wanted to travel to other worlds to avoid King Ashura, the king of Celes, whom he'd put to sleep in a deep, water-filled pit for reasons yet unknown. Fay appears to fear King Ashura. He'd created a girl named Chi to guard King Ashura and warn him if King Ashura awakens.

*Spoilers*

Fay has a lot of secrets and a tragic past, but he hides them behind his cheerful smile. Fay was originally a twin, and his twin's name is actually Fay, and his name is actually Yuui. Back in the world in which he was born (which is not Celes), Yuui and Fay were feared and shunned because they seemed to bring bad luck to everyone, not to mention the fact that they were almost as powerful (magic-wise) as the emperor. The emperor gave them two choices: either one of them kills the other, to break the "spell," or he would throw them both in a hellhole were time passed slowly, magic counldn't be used, and where sinners of that country were left to rot. The twins refused to kill each other, so the emperor threw them into the pit, locked Fay up in a very high tower, and left Yuui at the bottom of the tower. Yuui tried desperately to reach Fay, even stacking dead bodies on top of one another so he could make a ladder up the side of the tower, but he never succeeded.
An immeasurable time passed, and then, suddenly, more and more bodies were thrown into the pit, even those of children who couldn't have commited a crime. Yuui couldn't fathom what was going on, until a dead messenger fell into the pit, still clutching a scroll. Yuui read the scroll, and it said that the emperor was going mad, killing innocent citizens, and there was no one left to stop him. The scroll stated that it was all the twin princes' fault, it was their fault that misfortune was descending upon the country of Valeria. Upon reading that, Yuui threw the scroll aside, and tried to vault the wall that seperated the pit from Valeria, but to no avail.
Then, a bloody form fell into the pit. It was the emperor, still alive, but beyond mad. He said to Yuui, "Everything is the misfortune you twins invited . . . your birth . . . was the beginning of misfortune. Already . . . the people living in this country . . . are just me and you . . . And it ends here." The emperor then raised his sword and cut off his own head.
Yuui went crazy. He was veiled in the emperor's condemning words: It was a sin for them, just to be alive, just to be breathing.
But a while later, Fei Wang Reed showed up, and said that he could allow one of the twins to leave that place, and gave both twins a choice; himself of his brother. Yuui, delirious and not wanting to suffer anymore, chose himself, and Fay, unable to stand Yuui being tortured like that, chose Yuui. So Fay was thrown out of the tower to his death.
King Ashura arrived later. He took Yuui and brought him to Celes, where he asked him his name. And Yuui replied, "My name is Fay," thus erasing his own identity with his twin's name. King Ashura trained Yuui to use his magic properly, and took good care of him.
One day, two feathers floated down into Celes, Sakura's feathers. Fay took them, and using one, created Chi. He saved the other, according to the instructions Fei Wang Reed left in him. Then, when they go on the journey to look for feathers, Fay was supposed to pretend the feather had been stuck to Syaoran's cloak, and give it to him.
Fei Wang Reed also placed two curses on Fay: the first one made him kill anyone whose magic surpassed his, and the second one is only activated in Celes and is yet unknown. Fay's eye was removed by the clone Syaoran, after his "true self" was unleashed, and since Fay's blue eyes are the source of his magic, his magic decreased so it was only half as much as he'd had before. So when Sakura regained two more feathers in the Infinity Arc, her magic surpassed his, and he was forced to stab her. It was revealed later that Fay's actual target was the real Syaoran, but Sakura foresaw it in a dream and managed to change the future so that Fay didn't kill the real Syaoran.
